Personal Rope Skills: Ascending, rappelling, and changovers (Personal SRT 1)
Course Description:
People recreating, volunteering, or working at height should have some basic on rope skills enabling them to move up and down a rope safely. Attendees will learn how to rappel safely using their device of choice, ascend ropes safely and efficiently, and how to convert from ascending to rappelling and rappelling to ascending. With these skills, people on rope can prevent accidents from occurring, and can solve problems that occur on rope.
Prerequisite Skills:
None. Though attendees are encouraged to learn the basics of rappelling, ascending, and changeovers, prior to attending. That way we can focus on improving form and equipment utilization rather than the basics.
Equipment Needed:
Personal protective equipment (helmet, gloves, harness, ascending system, and descending system) is mandatory. Attendees will probably also appreciate having knee pads as well.
